
On August 5, 2026, His Eminence Archbishop Papken Tcharian, Prelate of the Armenian Prelacy of Canada, attended the consecration of Mother Bernadette Marie Roy, the fifth Abbess of the Abbey of Sainte-Marie des Deux-Montagnes.
His Eminence Archbishop Papken Tcharian attended the ceremony accompanied by V. Rev. Fr. Hagop Yaacoubian, Assistant to the Prelate, and Mrs. Zovig Terzian, President of the Executive Council of the Armenian Prelacy of Canada.
The ceremony was presided over by His Excellency Bishop Raymond Poisson, Bishop of Saint-Jérôme–Mont-Laurier.

The occasion held special ecumenical significance, bringing together representatives of various Christian traditions and organizations, including His Grace Bishop Joan Casian, Bishop of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Canada, and His Grace Bishop Boulos, Bishop of the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Ottawa, Montreal, and Eastern Canada, and Dr. Adriana Bara, National Director of CNEWA Canada.
The Armenian Prelacy extends its warmest congratulations to Mother Bernadette Marie Roy and assures her of its prayers as she begins her new ministry. May God bless her service and the monastic community of Sainte-Marie des Deux-Montagnes.
