Երեքշաբթի, 19 Մայիս 2026-ի առաւօտեան, Ն.Ս.Օ.Տ.Տ. Արամ Ա. Սրբազնագոյն Կաթողիկոսը հանդիպում ունեցաւ Վատիկանի Արեւելեան Կաթոլիկ Եկեղեցիներու ընդհանուր պատասխանատու Քարտինալ Քլաուտիօ Կիւճերոթիի հետ։ Նշենք, որ Քարտինալ Կիւճերոթի լաւատեղեակ է մեր ժողովուրդի ու եկեղեցւոյ պատմութեան՝ թէ՛ իր մասնագիտութեան ճամբով եւ թէ՛ Հայաստանի ու Վրաստանի որպէս Պապական նուիրակ իր ունեցած հարուստ փորձառութեամբ:
Քարտինալ Կիւճերոթի խօսք առնելով` ջերմօրէն ողջունեց Վեհափառ Հայրապետին այցելութիւնը Վատիկան: Մօտէն ծանօթ ըլլալով Նորին Սրբութեան եւ յատկապէս անոր միջ-եկեղեցական աշխարհէն ներս ունեցած լայն տեղեկութիւններուն եւ զանազան առիթներով Վատիկան կատարած այցելութիւններուն, ան Հայրապետին ներկայ այցելութիւնը նկատեց պատմական, նկատի ունենալով Միջին Արեւելքը եւ Հայաստանը դիմագրաւող դժուար պայմանները: Քարտինալը անդրադարձաւ Կիլիկեան Սուրբ Աթոռին եւ Կաթոլիկ եկեղեցւոյ սերտ յարաբերութեան:
Նորին Սրբութեան խօսքը առաւելաբար ընդգրկեց Միջին Արեւելքի Կաթոլիկ եկեղեցիներու եւ մեր եկեղեցւոյ յարաբերութիւնը, ինչպէս նաեւ Մեծի Տանն Կիլիկիոյ Կաթողիկոսութեան եւ հայ կաթոլիկ Պատրիարքութեան միջեւ գործակցութիւնը: Այս ծիրէն ներս յայտնեց, որ ինք միշտ եղած է ջատագովը գործակցութեան, յատկապէս ընդհանրական հարցերու շուրջ, միաժամանակ վեր առնելով գործակցութիւնը աւելի ամրապնդելու ու ծաւալելու կարիքը:
Վեհափառ Հայրապետը նաեւ անդրադարձաւ Միջին Արեւելքէն ներս քրիստոնեայ եկեղեցիներուն դիմագրաւած մարտահրաւէրներուն՝ յայտնելով, որ արտագաղթը մեծապէս վնասած է քրիստոնեայ համայնքներու ազդու ներկայութեան ու դերակատարութեան, ինչպէս նաեւ՝ կարգ մը շրջաններու մէջ ծայրայեղ իսլամներու ցուցաբերած խտրական մօտեցումին: Վեհափառ Հայրապետը շեշտեց քրիստոնէական միութիւնը ամուր պահելու անհրաժեշտութիւնը եւ այս գծով Վատիկանի աջակցութիւնը:
Խօսք առաւ նաեւ Քարտինալին փոխանորդը՝ Միշէլ Ճալխ Եպիսկոպոսը եւ յիշեց Նորին Սրբութեան հետ իր ունեցած սերտ գործակցութիւնը եւ ցուցաբերած օժանդակութիւնը, երբ տարիներ առաջ ինք Միջին Արեւելքի Եկեղեցիներու Խորհուրդին ընդհանուր քարտուղարն էր:
Վեհափառ Հայրապետին պատուիրակութեան եւ Քարտինալ Կիւճերոթիի բաժանմունքի անձնակազմին ներկայութեան տեղի ունեցած հանդիպման աւարտին, առանձին մտերմիկ հանդիպում մը կայացաւ Հայրապետի եւ Քարտինալի միջեւ: Արծարծուեցան Արցախի առնչուած հարցեր եւ մանաւանդ հայ բանտարկեալներու ազատ արցակման խնդիրը: Քարտինալը մօտէն ծանօթ ըլլալով եւ այցելութիւն տուած ըլլալով Ազրպէյճան՝ անհրաժեշտ տեղեկութիւններ փոխանցեց Վեհափառ Հայրապետին:
Հանդիպման աւարտին Վեհափառ Հայրապետը Քարտինալ Կիւճերոթիի նուիրեց Նարեկ աղօթամատեանի ամենահին ձեռագրին կրկնօրինակը եւ իր հեղինակած Ներսէս Շնորհալիի նուիրուած աշխատանքը:

On Tuesday morning, 19 May 2026, His Holiness Catholicos Aram I met with Cardinal Claudio Gugerotti, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Eastern Catholic Churches. It should be noted that Cardinal Gugerotti is deeply familiar with the history of the Armenian people and the Armenian Church, both through his academic specialization and through his rich experience as Papal Nuncio to Armenia and Georgia.
Welcoming His Holiness warmly to the Vatican, Cardinal Gugerotti expressed his appreciation for the visit. Being closely acquainted with His Holiness and particularly with his extensive ecumenical experience and numerous visits to the Vatican, the Cardinal described the present visit of the Catholicos as historic, especially in light of the difficult circumstances confronting both the Middle East and Armenia. He also referred to the close relations between the Holy See of Cilicia and the Catholic Church.
In his remarks, His Holiness focused primarily on the relations between the Catholic Churches of the Middle East and the Armenian Church, as well as on the cooperation between the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia and the Armenian Catholic Patriarchate. In this context, His Holiness affirmed that he has always advocated close collaboration, particularly on matters of common concern, while emphasizing the need to further strengthen and expand such cooperation.
His Holiness also addressed the challenges facing Christian Churches in the Middle East, noting that emigration has severely weakened the effective presence and role of Christian communities, in addition to the discriminatory attitudes displayed by extremist Islamic groups in certain regions. The Catholicos stressed the necessity of preserving strong Christian unity and underlined the importance of Vatican support in this regard.
Archbishop Michel Jalakh, Secretary of the Dicastery, also addressed the gathering and recalled his close cooperation with His Holiness Aram I and the support he had received from him during his tenure as Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches.
At the conclusion of the meeting, which was attended by members of the Catholicosal delegation and the staff of Cardinal Gugerotti’s Dicastery, a private and cordial conversation took place between His Holiness and the Cardinal. During this meeting, issues related to Artsakh were discussed, particularly the matter of the release of Armenian prisoners. Cardinal Gugerotti, who is closely informed on the matter and has visited Azerbaijan, shared relevant information with His Holiness.
At the end of the meeting, His Holiness presented Cardinal Gugerotti with a replica of the oldest manuscript of the Book of Narek prayer book, as well as his own scholarly work dedicated to St. Nerses Shnorhali.
