Վատիկանի մէջ իր ունեցած հանդիպումներու շարքին, իւրայատուկ կարեւորութիւն կը ներկայացնէր Ն.Ս.Օ.Տ.Տ. Արամ Ա. Վեհափառ Հայրապետին հանդիպումը միջ-կրօնական յարաբերութեանց ընդհանուր պատասխանատու Քարտինալ Քուվաքատի հետ: Յիշեալ հանդիպումը, որ կայացաւ Երկուշաբթի, 18 Մայիս 2026-ի երեկոյեան, որոշ իմաստով շարունակութիւնն էր Ղազախիստանի մէջ անցեալ ամառ նոյն Քարտինալին հետ Վեհափառ Հայրապետին ունեցած միջ-կրօնական հարցերու քննարկումին:
Հանդիպման ընթացքին թէ՛ Վեհափառ Հայրապետը եւ թէ՛ Քարտինալը շեշտեցին միջ-կրօնական երկխօսութիւնն ու գործակցութիւնը շարունակելու կարեւորութիւնը բոլոր շրջաններէն ներս: Նորին Սրբութիւնը յիշեցուց, որ միջ-կրօնական հանդիպումներուն օրակարգը նաեւ անհրաժեշտ է որ ընդգրկէ ներկայ ընկերութիւններու առնչուած հարցեր. օրինակ՝ կենսոլորտ, բռնութիւն, ճարտարագիտութիւն, բարոյագիտական հարցեր եւ այլն…: Յաճախ կատարուող միացեալ յայտարարութիւններէ անդին, կարեւոր է խաղաղ համակեցութիւն ու կառուցողական գործակցութիւն ստեղծել կրօններու միջեւ՝ աշխարհը յուզող հարցերու շուրջ: Համակեցութիւնը այլեւս դարձած է անհրաժեշտութիւն համաշխարհայնացած ներկայ աշխարհին մէջ: Հետեւաբար, բոլոր կրօնները պարտաւոր են միասին ապրելու՝ փոխադարձ հասկացողութեան դրական մթնոլորտի մէջ, նշեց Հայրապետը: Ան նաեւ յայտնեց, թէ մեր ժողովուրդը երկար դարեր ապրած է իսլամութեան հետ եւ կը շարունակէ ապրիլ յատկապէս Միջին Արեւելքի մէջ:
Յայտնենք, որ Վեհափառ Հայրապետը Քարտինալին հետ Ղազախիստանի մէջ ունեցած հանդիպման ընթացքին արծարծած էր Վատիկանի Կրէկորեան համալսարանին մէջ շուրջ տարի մը առաջ Ազրպէյճանի կազմակերպած համագումարի հարցը, որ միակողմանի մօտեցումներ կատարուած էին Արցախի եւ Հայ եկեղեցւոյ մասին: Նորին Սրբութիւնը դարձեալ այս մտահոգութեան անդրադարձաւ այն սպասումով, որ ակադեմական կեդրոնները առարկայական մօտեցում ունենան իրենց կողմէ եւ նոյնիսկ իրենց յարկին տակ քննարկուող նիւթերու գծով:
Քարտինալը համաձայն գտուեցաւ Նորին Սուրբ Օծութեան տեսակէտին՝ ընդլայնելու միջ-կրօնական հանդիպումներու օրակարգը՝ ներառելով ընկերութիւնը յուզող այժմէական հարցեր: Ան նաեւ անհրաժեշտ բացատրութիւններ տուաւ Ազրպէյճանի հետ Վատիկանի ունեցած երկխօսութեան, միաժամանակ շեշտելով, որ Վեհափառ Հայրապետին արծարծած հարցերուն շուրջ իր բաժանմունքը անհրաժեշտ աշխատանքները պիտի շարունակէ կատարել:

“INTERRELIGIOUS DIALOGUE MUST FIND PRACTICAL EXPRESSION”
HIS HOLINESS ARAM I EMPHASIZES AT THE VATICAN
Among the series of meetings held by His Holiness Aram I at the Vatican, particular significance was attached to his encounter with Cardinal Koovakad, the Prefect responsible for interreligious relations. In a certain sense, the meeting served as a continuation of the discussions on interreligious affairs that His Holiness had held with the same Cardinal last summer in Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, both His Holiness and the Cardinal underscored the importance of continuing interreligious dialogue and cooperation across all regions of the world. His Holiness stressed that the agenda of interreligious encounters must also address the pressing concerns facing contemporary societies, including the environment, violence, technology, ethical issues, and related challenges.
His Holiness noted that, beyond the joint statements often issued, it is essential to foster peaceful coexistence and constructive cooperation among religions around the critical issues confronting humanity today. “Coexistence has become a necessity in our globalized world,” His Holiness stated. “Therefore, all religions are obliged to live together in a spirit of mutual understanding.” He further recalled that the Armenian people have lived alongside Islam for centuries and continue to do so, particularly in the Middle East.
It should be noted that during their previous meeting in Kazakhstan, His Holiness Aram I had raised concerns regarding a conference organized by Azerbaijan approximately a year ago at the Gregorian University of the Vatican, during which one-sided approaches were presented concerning Artsakh and the Armenian Church. His Holiness once again referred to this concern, expressing the expectation that academic institutions adopt objective approaches, particularly regarding issues discussed under their auspices.
Cardinal Koovakad concurred with the perspective of His Holiness Aram I regarding the need to broaden the agenda of interreligious meetings to include urgent societal concerns. He also provided clarifications regarding the Vatican’s dialogue with Azerbaijan, while emphasizing that his department would continue the necessary work concerning the issues raised by His Holiness.
At the conclusion of the meeting, His Holiness Aram I presented Cardinal Koovakad with a commemorative gift depicting the Virgin Mary.
