«ՆԵՐԿԱՅ ԱՇԽԱՐՀԻՆ ՄԷՋ ՄԻՋ-ԵԿԵՂԵՑԱԿԱՆ ՇԱՐԺՈՒՄԸ ՊԷՏՔ Է ՈՒՆԵՆԱՅ ՆՈՐ ՕՐԱԿԱՐԳ ՈՒ ՏԵՍԼԱԿԱՆ» ԱՐԱՄ Ա. ԿԱԹՈՂԻԿՈՍ

Միջ-եկեղեցական յարաբերութեանց բաժանմունքը Վատիկանի կարեւորագոյն կառոյցներէն մէկն է, որ ո՛չ միայն յարաբերութիւն կը մշակէ աշխարհի բոլոր եկեղեցիներուն ու միջ-եկեղեցական խորհուրդներուն հետ, այլ նաեւ կը նախաձեռնէ աստուածաբանական երկխօսութիւններու: Ն.Ս.Օ.Տ.Տ. Արամ Ա. Վեհափառ Հայրապետը տասնամեակներէ ի վեր մնայուն կապի մէջ է յիշեալ բաժանմունքի պատասխանատուներուն հետ եւ մօտէն ծանօթ է անոնց կողմէ կատարուած աշխատանքներուն:

Վեհափառ Հայրապետին եւ Վատիկանի միջ-եկեղեցական բաժանմունքի պատասխանատու Քարտինալ Քիւրթ Քոխին հետ հանդիպումը տեւեց աւելի քան ժամ մը: Առաջին հերթին, Հայրապետն ու Քարտինալը ունեցան առանձին հանդիպում, որու ընթացքին վերջինս ուզեց իմանալ Նորին Սրբութեան տեսակէտը կարգ մը զգայուն հարցերու շուրջ: Ապա, աւելի քան ժամ մը տեւողութեամբ կայացաւ հաւաք մը, որուն ներկայ էին Վեհափառ Հայրապետին պատուիրակութեան անդամները եւ Վատիկանի միջ-եկեղեցական բաժանմունքի անձնակազմը:

Քարտինալ Քոխ խօսք առնելով՝ ողջունեց Վեհափառ Հայրապետին ժամանումը Վատիկան՝ յիշելով Նորին Սրբութեան ունեցած բազմաթիւ հանդիպումները նախկին պապերուն եւ միջ-եկեղեցական պատասխանատուներուն հետ: Ան վեր առաւ Հայրապետին կարեւոր դերակատարութիւնն ու հարուստ փորձառութիւնը միջ-եկեղեցական մարզին, ինչպէս նաեւ սերտ գործակցութիւնը Վատիկանի հետ:

Արամ Ա. Սրբազնագոյն Կաթողիկոսը խօսք առնելով՝ ըսաւ, որ Հայ եկեղեցին ընդհանրապէս եւ Մեծի Տանն Կիլիկիոյ Կաթողիկոսութիւնը մասնաւորաբար յատուկ կարեւորութիւն տուած է միջ-եկեղեցական շարժումին, հին դարերէն սկսեալ: Այսօր, մեր Սուրբ Աթոռը գործօն ներկայութիւն է Եկեղեցիներու Համաշխարհային Խորհուրդէն, շրջանային խորհուրդներէն եւ այլ էքիւմէնիք կառոյցներէ ներս, ինչպէս նաեւ մասնակից է աստուածաբանական երկխօսութիւններու: Այս յիշեցումէն ետք, Հայրապետը անդրադառնալով միջ-եկեղեցական շարժումին պարզած ներկայ կացութեան՝ նշեց, թէ ընդհանրապէս էքիւմէնիք շարժումը տագնապի մէջ է: Աշխարհի դիմագրաւած տագնապները զանազան ձեւերով նաեւ ազդած են միջ-եկեղեցական շարժումին վրայ: Եկեղեցիները առաջնահերթութիւն սկսած են տալ դաւանակից եկեղեցիներու միջեւ գործակցութեան:

Այս ընդհանուր ակնարկէն ետք, Նորին Սրբութիւնը ընդգծեց, թէ անհրաժեշտ է ձեւաւորել միջ-եկեղեցական նոր մտածողութիւն, մօտեցում ու շեշտաւորում, որոնք ըլլան համապատասխան ներկայ աշխարհի պայմաններուն եւ քրիստոնեայ ժողովուրդներու ակնկալութիւններուն: Այսօր, անցեալէն ժառանգուած դաւանաբանական ու աստուածաբանական հարցերը այնքան հրատապ չեն եկեղեցիներուն համար, որքան բարոյագիտական հարցերը, որոնք դարձած են գոյութենական ներկայութիւն եկեղեցիներու կեանքին մէջ: Հետեւաբար, այս հարցերը հարկ է առաջնահերթութիւն ստանան միջ-եկեղեցական գործակցութեան մէջ, ըսաւ Վեհափառ Հայրապետը, միաժամանակ անդրադառնալով Կաթոլիկ եկեղեցւոյ եւ Արեւելեան Ուղղափառ եկեղեցիներու միջեւ գոյութիւն ունեցող աստուածաբանական երկխօսութեան առնչուած կարգ մը խնդիրներու:

Հանդիպման աւարտին, Արամ Ա. Վեհափառ Հայրապետը Քարտինալ Քոխին նուիրեց Աստուածամայրը ներկայացնող յուշանուէր մը:

Յայտնենք, որ նոյն երեկոյեան, ի պատիւ Վեհափառ Հայրապետին, Քարտինալ Քոխ սարքեց ճաշկերոյթ մը, որուն Վեհափառ Հայրապետին պատուիրակութեան անդամներուն կողքին ներկայ էին Վատիկանի միջ-եկեղեցական բաժանմունքի բարձրաստիճան պատասխանատուները: Ճաշկերոյթի ընթացքին դարձեալ խօսք առնելով՝ Քարտինալը անդրադաձաւ Նորին Սրբութեան ունեցած կարեւոր դերակատարութեան եւ անոր բերած մեծապէս գնահատելի նպաստին միջ-եկեղեցական շարժումին առաւել զարգացման ուղղուած:

“THE ECUMENICAL MOVEMENT IN TODAY’S WORLD MUST ADOPT A NEW AGENDA AND VISION”

H.H. CATHOLICOS ARAM I

The Department for Inter-Church Relations is one of the Vatican’s most important institutions. Beyond maintaining relations with churches and ecumenical councils, it also initiates and oversees theological dialogues. For decades, His Holiness Aram I Catholicos has maintained close ties with the department’s leadership and is well acquainted with its work and mission.

The meeting between His Holiness Aram I and Cardinal Koch, Prefect of the Vatican’s Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, lasted for more than an hour. Initially, the Catholicos and դհէ Cardinal held a private conversation during which the Cardinal sought His Holiness’s views on several sensitive issues. This was followed by an extended meeting attended by members of the Catholicos’s delegation and senior staff members of the dicastery.

Welcoming His Holiness to the Vatican, Cardinal Koch recalled the many meetings Aram I had held over the years with previous Vatican officials responsible for ecumenical affairs. He emphasized the Catholicos’s significant role and extensive experience within the ecumenical movement, as well as his longstanding cooperation with the Vatican.

In his remarks, His Holiness stated that the Armenian Church in general, and the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia in particular, have attached special importance to the ecumenical movement since ancient times. Today, the Holy See remains actively engaged in the World Council of Churches, regional councils, and other ecumenical bodies, while also participating in various theological dialogues.

Reflecting on the present condition of the ecumenical movement, His Holiness observed that the movement is currently facing a serious crisis. The many crises confronting the modern world have also affected the ecumenical movement in different ways. Churches, he noted, have increasingly shifted their priority toward cooperation among churches of the same confession and tradition.

Following this broader assessment, His Holiness stressed the urgent need for a renewed ecumenical vision, methodology, and set of priorities that correspond to the realities of today’s world and the expectations of Christian communities. He remarked that inherited doctrinal and theological disputes from the past are no longer as pressing for churches as moral and ethical challenges, which have now become existential concerns within ecclesial life itself. Consequently, he emphasized that such issues must receive greater priority within inter-church cooperation. His Holiness also referred to several challenges related to the theological dialogue between the Catholic Church and the Oriental Orthodox Churches.

At the conclusion of the meeting, His Holiness presented Cardinal Koch with a commemorative gift depicting the Holy Mother of God.

Later that evening, Cardinal Koch hosted an official dinner in honor of His Holiness. In addition to members of the delegation, senior officials of the dicastery were also in attendance. During the dinner, Cardinal Koch once again highlighted the important role played by His Holiness Aram I and praised his highly valued contribution toward the further advancement of the ecumenical movement.
