THE HOLY CROSS OF VARAK AND ARMENIAN YOUTH

The Armenian Church celebrates the Feast of the Holy Cross of Varak this week, a day with rich spiritual and historical meaning. According to Armenian tradition, Saint Hripsime brought a relic of the True Cross to Armenia and hid it on Mount Varak during the early Christian period. In 653, a radiant light appeared over the mountain, leading to the discovery of the sacred relic. This event became the foundation of the Feast of the Holy Cross of Varak.

The story of Varak is not only part of our history; it speaks to Armenian youth today. The Cross and the light that revealed it remind us that faith can guide us through uncertain and changing times.

For young Armenians living in Canada and around the world, the Armenian Church offers a place where faith, identity, culture, and community come together. Youth are not simply the future of the Church—they are part of its life today.

By participating in worship, volunteering, learning, and serving their community, young Armenians can keep our spiritual and cultural heritage alive. The Feast of the Holy Cross of Varak is therefore an invitation to our youth: know your roots, live your faith, serve your community, and carry the light forward.
